How Do You Make 2 Ingredient Peanut Butter Fudge?

To make this fudge, simply melt a cup of peanut butter in the microwave or on the stove until it is smooth and creamy. Next, add a can of frosting and stir until the mixture is well combined. Pour the mixture into a lined 8×8 inch pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Let the fudge chill in the fridge for at least an hour, or until it is firm.

Step 1. Scoop peanut butter and frosting into a microwave-safe glass bowl or dish. Stir together.

Step 2. Microwave the peanut butter and frosting for 1 minute. Stir again.

Step 3. If not fully melted and easy to stir after 1 minute cook an additional 30 seconds to 1 minute.

Step 4. Stir to combine ingredients.

Step 5. Cover and cool in the refrigerator for 3 hours or overnight.

Step 6. Once the fudge is set cut it into 1 or 2-inch pieces.

Can I Make It With Any Frosting?

This microwave peanut butter fudge works best with white vanilla frosting. This version is the original version of the 2 ingredient peanut butter fudge.

I would avoid the whipped frosting and the cream cheese frosting versions since they don’t seem to have the same flavor as the traditional white vanilla frosting.

Plus the texture of the whipped and cream cheese frosting is different which affects how the fudge sets so stick to the traditional frosting. You can try different flavors of frosting if you want but just make sure it is the normal frosting version.

What is the Best Peanut Butter to Use?

I think creamy store-bought peanut butter gives you the best flavor and texture for the fudge. You could easily use crunchy peanut butter if you want to have pieces of peanuts in your fudge.

I haven’t ever tried using homemade peanut butter but I’m not sure that it will mix properly since it is separated with the oil on top usually. Also, it usually has a little more gritty texture to it which might not work as well.

Nut-Free Peanut Butter is another option. There are so many types of great nut-free peanut butter out there. I think the Sunbutter peanut butter would be the best consistency to make this with since it is creamy like peanut butter.

Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Fudge

My grandmother use to make fudge for her Christmas presents and ship it to us from Kansas. It would come in a classic Christmas tin that I had trouble opening as a kid and was wrapped in layers of wax paper. I can still remember taking tiny bites of each piece to make it last longer. I know this is where my love of fudge began. The rich flavor of fudge is perfect to savor and a little bit goes a long way.

If you have ever been to a chocolate store like Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory or any store like that you have seen the ultimate fudge selection. They have row upon row of decadent flavors of fudge like mint fudge, tiger butter fudge, and orange fudge. My favorite part is when they let you try a sample of each flavor. I always try like 10 flavors but end up picking the peanut butter fudge option every time.

Since I don’t own my own chocolate store and I’m not a baker like my grandma this 2 ingredient fudge makes it so I can still enjoy my old-fashioned fudge craving!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Version

I have made 2 ingredient peanut butter fudge with chocolate fudge frosting and peanut butter and it turned out delicious. It is really a personal preference if you want the pure peanut butter flavor which tastes just like the inside of Reese’s peanut butter cups. Or as always chocolate and peanut butter are always a winning combination in the dessert world.

Both versions are so easy that I usually make both for the holidays and give everyone two kinds of 2 ingredient peanut butter fudge.

What Size Pan To Use for No-Bake Peanut Butter Fudge?

You can make this entire dessert in one pan which I love. Mix all the ingredients right in the glass 8×8 dish which can go right from the microwave to the refrigerator.

I love my Pyrex glass cooking dish for this recipe! Plus, I like to use a glass dish because I think the fudge cools quicker in it. But if you have a metal pan that will work too.

Any size can work baking pan/dish will work. Just use whatever you have on hand. The height of the fudge will change but it works with any size.

How Does 2 Ingredient Peanut Butter Fudge Set?

Once the peanut butter and frosting have melted and stirred together you will cover it and put it in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours until it is hard. If you are in a time crunch you can even put it in the freezer to make it set faster.

This is a much easier way than traditional fudge where you never know if it is going to set correctly. I usually just leave it in the refrigerator overnight so I know it is fully set and hardened.

What is the Best Way to Store It?

The texture of this peanut butter fudge is best if stored in the refrigerator. It can become soft if left in the pantry. Place it in an airtight, sealed container and keep it in the refrigerator for up to ten days.

You can even freeze your fudge for up to 6 months if you store it correctly. Make sure there is not any moisture when you are covering it. You will want to wrap it in parchment paper or wax paper inside the airtight container.

How to Slice Microwave 2 Ingredient Peanut Butter Fudge

Once your peanut butter fudge has cooled and hardened you can get ready to slice it up! If you want to make sure to get your pieces evenly sliced into smooth squares make sure to follow these easy steps.

Remove the fudge from the pan and place it onto a large cutting board. You can also just cut it right in the pan if you want. Either way, I like to place it on the large cutting board so it doesn’t move around.

I start by cutting it into 4 slices lengthwise. You can break out the measuring tape and measure out 2 inches just to be precise. Rotate the pan 180 degrees and then I make another 4 the opposite way of the 4 slices I have already made.

Make sure to get a warm glass of water to dip your knife in after each row you cut. Take the knife and dunk it in the warm water and dry it off in between cutting your rows.

Line your baking pan with parchment paper or foil to easily remove the fudge for cutting into squares.

If you are sprinkling anything on top do this before placing it in the refrigerator. Press them gently into the fudge so they stick.

Keep your fudge in the refrigerator so it stays hard and it will last longer.

Do not microwave the peanut butter and frosting in their containers. There are videos showing that you can just microwave the ingredients right in the containers. Please don’t do this! The plastic is not microwave-safe and could melt.

Food Allergies

All of the ingredients I use are gluten-free. My husband has celiac disease, which means you are allergic to gluten.

This recipe only requires two ingredients that are both gluten-free naturally. You will want to make sure if you add any additional ingredients that they are gluten-free. I like to use Snyder’s gluten-free pretzels for my treats.
