One of Bloody Disgusting’s10 Best International Horror Movies of 2023, home invasion nightmarePropertywas released onto Digital & On Demand by Dark Star Pictures on May 28.

The film won Best Picture at last year’s Fantastic Fest and has since garnered significant attention on the genre festival circuit, including screenings at Sitges, Edinburgh, and Berlin.

Dark Star previews, “Propertyis a riveting take on home invasion, that boldly delves into the political undertones of violence and power dynamics. Directed byDaniel Bandeira, the film takes place in a stately country house where a wealthy couple’s retreat is disrupted by the laborers from the surrounding farm. With its thought-provoking themes and visceral thrills,Propertychallenges viewers to confront the reality of violence and resistance in society, leaving a lasting impact long after the credits roll.”

Daniel Kurland, meanwhile, raved in the aforementioned ‘Best of 2023’ piece, “Propertyis Brazilian filmmakerDaniel Bandeira’sfeature film debut that hits extra hard due to its too-real commentary on financial and social inequality. There have been many films during the past few years that put the “one percent” in their crosshairs.Propertycooks with the same ingredients, but brings them to a boil with its claustrophobic reverse home invasion execution.”

“There’s a remarkably simple concept in play inProperty, but Bandeira never overextends the film’s reach or makes its prolonged assault feel repetitive or formulaic,” he continued. “Propertydoesn’t cheat its way out of this premise and it’s easily the best trapped-in-a-car horror movie this side ofCujo, albeit with a more socially-minded and modern message.”
