What is Gin?

Gin is a distilled alcoholic beverage that is made with juniper berries, herbs and botanicals. Gin is once again gaining in popularity. It is famous for the making a simple gin & tonic, bees knees and martinis. It is a great mixed with apple cider in this simple fall drink.

We also love mixing up a gin sour after a long day. It’s perfect to sip on while we are cooking dinner and these Abbey co*cktails are a favorite for a weekend brunch.

What is the Best Gin for co*cktails?

We have tried several brands of gin but Highclere Castle is the smoothest and best tasting that we have sampled. It’s the only one I would recommend drinking straight.

Highclere Castle is the famous setting for Downton Abbey and is home to the Carnarvon family. The Carnarvon’s worked in collaboration with England’s oldest gin distillery to produce an exceptionally smooth, luxury spirit that is worthy of Highclere’s history and pedigree.
