Welcome back to another one of my adventures.. this time we are visiting Baltimore, Maryland! Baltimore is known as the charm city, and it definitely lives up to it’s name. I actually don’t think this lively city gets enough credit to be honest, because it blew away my expectations. There is so much history, character, and fun happening here. A few weekends ago Mike and I escaped for a short weekend getaway and I am excited to share all of our favorite things from our trip. This post is a guide for where to stay, what to eat, see and do in the city! So grab a coffee and get ready for this fun travel guide to Baltimore.

WHERE TO STAY:

Hotel Indigo

If you’re looking for a fun and chic hotel then Hotel Indigo downtown Baltimore it where it’s at! It’s located right in the heart of the downtown area. It’s nice because it’s within walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, and convenient stores if needed. It’s super clean, decorated beautifully, and you get amazing views. We stayed in a corner view king suite and our views were amazing. (You can see some videos I took of our room on my instastories.) The room itself was very spacious, and it even had a sliding barn door on the bathroom – love it! The staff was amazing and super friendly from the second you walk in until you leave. Another bonus is they are a pet friendly hotel so you can bring your little fur babies. Poet’s Modern co*cktails & Eats is a restaurant inside of the hotel that offers an array of creative food and drinks that really reflects the artsy and eclectic style of Hotel Indigo.

WHAT TO DO:

Sunset Sail with American Sailing Tours

We had such a great experience on our sunset sail with American Sailing Tours and it was definitely the high light of our trip. It was seriously so much fun, and it’s the perfect date night activity. I mean, imagine cruising in the Chesapeake Bay with some wine in hand and your spouse beside you while they play some smooth romantic classics. Truly magical. Captain Tom was an awesome captain and even gave us a little history behind famous landmarks that we sailed passed. I would recommend this 10 out of 10 for anyone to try!

Explore the Inner Harbor

The Inner Harbor is super popular in the Baltimore area and there is all sorts of things to do! There are a TON of amazing restaurants, a mall, the National Aquarium, a beach volleyball court for anyone to play, the list goes on and on. It’s a great place to walk around, people watch, ride bikes, hear street performers, and watch the ships come in. They even have a bunch of different paddle boats you can rent.

Stroll through Fells Point

Fell’s Point is where we spent the majority of our time. You need to visit Fells Point to get a good taste of Baltimore. It’s a beautiful historic water front district. The streets are paved with cobble stones, and it’s jam packed with history, shops, restaurants, and pretty views. It’s so picturesque here! We did most of our eating here because there were just so many good restaurants to choose from.. keep reading to see everything we ate!

Find your inner hipster in Hampden

Hampden is a little neighborhood in Baltimore that is a true hipster town. There is tons of art everywhere to look at, seriously everywhere you look it’s just so pretty and decorated. There’s also quaint little shops and quick bite restaurants. I love it because almost all the shops are locally owned and one of a kind. Even the apartments in this area look so beautiful and colorful on the outside, I can only imagine how cool they are on the inside!

Get the best views of the city from Federal Hill

Federal Hill is a long time Baltimore landmark that offers one of the best Inner Harbor views. A little history for you – It was a defensive stronghold during the War of 1812 because of its panoramic view of the city. It’s a little bit of a trek to get to the top because you have to climb a few sets of stairs, but it is totally worth every step. The views are just amazing from up there! Do yourself a favor and check out this park.

Take Instagram pics in Graffiti Alley

Located in midtown there’s an L shaped alley full of graffiti and it’s actually really cool! It’s a totally legal space in the city that allows street artists to work freely and express their selves. It’s extremely colorful, and always changing. It’s an ideal spot for photo shoots for the locals. Anyway, it’s really neat and you should check it out before you leave it you have time.

WHERE TO EAT, DRINK, & BE MERRY:

Ceremony Coffee Roasters

Just a short walk from the hotel is Ceremony Coffee Roasters, with the prettiest brightest atmosphere and the best coffee drinks! We stopped here early in the morning to get caffeinated before our day full of exploring ahead. Coffee shops like this just make my heart so happy. It would be a dream of mine to open my own in the future!

Blue Moon Cafe

A cozy restaurant right off Fells Point that is an absolute must visit! We had to wait a little while to get seated, but it is so worth it. Mike got a veggie omelet with hash browns and a homemade biscuit, and I got their famous cap’n crunch french toast. It was AMAZING. No matter what breakfast you choose, you will definitely leave here satisfied.

Rip Tide by the Bay

A casual waterfront seafood restaurant & tavern located in Fells Point. You need to get the crab cakes, and thank me later! They are very well known for their fresh and local caught Maryland blue crabs. This was our last stop before we headed back home and it was so good.

Fell’s Point Creamery

After walking around and exploring Fells Point, treat yourself and stop into Fell’s Point Creamery and get some delicious creamy homemade ice cream, with allllll the toppings. You get to choose as many toppings as you could fit, which is always a win in my book. The more toppings the better. They also have tons of flavors to choose from, we ended up getting Strawberry and Butter Pecan.

Thanks for reading!

Have you ever been to Baltimore? What city should Mike and I take a weekend getaway to next?
