Nothing says Nashville like country music, and a long history of the music industry and culture you simply can’t find anywhere else. It was a privilege to be able to visit Music City and see all that Nashville had in store for us. We couldn’t miss a place like the Country Music Hall of Fame!

I was also veryexcited to visit Hatch Show Print, a staple of the Nashville music scene, and in the same building as the Country Music Hall of Fame. You can take a 1.5 hour tour, but ain’t nobody got time for that. We wandered the gallery and the gift shop and took in all that we could of Hatch. Of course, I came home with a lot of Hatch swag!

The Country Music Television Awards were definitely something to put on your list of things to do in Nashville. We saw a ton of celebrities and got to see the hottest acts in Country (and well…general pop music) perform like Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley, Jason Aldeen, Blake Shelton, Pitbull, Fifth Harmony, Elle King and more. However, if you do go during this week (including Fan Fest), be prepared for no parking, lots of crowds, and slow Uber pick-up times.

But the best part of Nashville had to be the restaurants.

Vegan Vee is this little tiny place on the east-side of Nashville. It’s a vegan bakery that is also 100% gluten-free too. It just so happens it’s also peanut-free too (but not nut free). They are closed on Sunday and Monday so plan your trip accordingly!

Jack’s Bar-B-Que was great with celiac, but not so great with dairy. While they changed their gloves and changed out their cutting board – I couldn’t have most of the sides. I ended up with these cucumbers. YAY? Lack of dairy-free sides aside, the meat was so delicious – fresh out of the smoker. All of their sauces are gluten-free, so it was cool to dip in different sauces each bite. This traditional southern bar-b-que serves on styrofoam plates and plastic silverware – but that’s pretty much what you get at a place like this. The only thing that would have made it better was sweet tea, but I didn’t want to go into a coma before the awards show. They’ve got three locations – and we went to the one on Broadwaydowntown.

We also visited TheWild Cow, a vegetarian joint in Nashville. This is the type of restaurants where I feel most at home at – a place that serves vegan cheese, sides of sautéed kale, and every waitress has tattoos and a friendly attitude. I could eat here for a week straight, maybe even more. It’s a really cool place and it’s on my “must visit” list if you go to Nashville. Just not on a Tuesday – they are closed.

Lastly, you do not want to miss AMOT – a Matter of Taste eatery in EastNashville. It’s right next to another gluten-free friendly joint, Local Taco (which also came highly recommended to us by readers). They both have amazing patios, and honestly I could probably stay there all day just to visit both locations at once. AMOT had a great brunch selection, and I settled on these duck fat potatoes and a chicken sandwich on Udi’s gluten-free buns. They didn’t have any gluten-free dairy-free desserts, but they did have any gluten-free beer that you could want! Their dinner menu is a bit more fancy, but it also sounds delicious. And did we mention they had chicken and waffles? And biscuits and gravy? A must-visit! Just don’t go on Tuesdays – they are closed!
