Auto-Pop Note: If you have completed the requirements for this trophy on another system then simply do an expert delivery while NOT having your seals capped and the trophy will pop.

Grand Companies (GC) are organizations that players will join at around level 20 as a part of the MSQ. There are three grand companies, The Maelstrom from Limsa Lominsa (Storm), The Order of the Twin Adder from Gridania (Serpent), and The Immortal Flames from Ul'dah (Flame). Which GC you join does not affect the trophy. You can join any of the three, including one not belonging to your home city. You can also change Grand Companies if you want, though there is no benefit to doing so and you reset to the lowest rank of the GC you switch to.

Grand Companies are divided into numerous ranks. Promotions can be earned with a special currency called Grand Company Seals. These seals can also be exchanged with the Grand Company Quartermaster for weapons, armor, crafting materials, and items such as Venture Tokens used with retainers and Cordials used for gathering.

You can get more GC Seals by completing FATEs, filling out the GC Hunting Log, doing GC levequests and undertaking supply and provisioning missions.

The GC Hunting Log can be found by pressing Oh Captain, My Captain Trophy • Final Fantasy XIV • PSNProfiles.com (3), going to Logs -> Hunting Log, and then pressing Oh Captain, My Captain Trophy • Final Fantasy XIV • PSNProfiles.com (4)until you land on the Grand Company section of your hunting log. You can find the location of the enemies you need to kill by hovering over the enemy icon in the hunting log. You will be required to kill all enemies listed in Ranks 1 & 2 for this trophy.

Ranking up from Rank 1 (Private Third Class) to Rank 9 (Second Lieutenant) is straightforward. Just complete the quest(s), turn in the required amount of GC seals, and/or hunt the enemies found in the GC Hunting Log. You can inquire about promotions at anytime with the Personnel Officer located next to the Quartermaster at your GC headquarters.

Ranking up to Rank 10 (First Lieutenant) and Rank 11 (Captain) is dependent on participation in an entirely different mini-game called Adventurer Squadrons. Adventurer Squadrons can be very complex and involved, but for the purposes of this trophy guide, we will only discuss what is necessary to achieve Captain Rank and get the trophy.

Once you hit Rank 9 (Second Lieutenant), you will now have access to the Company Barracks (Immortal Flames — Ul'dah shown).

Inside, you will find: Enlistment Papers, the Regimen Board, and the Squadron Sergeant (Immortal Flames — Ul'dah shown).

Note: This trophy requires the successful completion of specific missions that can only be accessed once every 18 hours.

The overarching end goal of Adventurer Squadrons in terms of this trophy is to meet the requirements for, and successfully complete, the mission 'Sapper Strike.'In order to do this you will need to have a squadron with an average level of 50+, a Physical stat of 370+, a Mental stat of 355+, and a Tactical stat of 345+. In order to achieve this, you will need to recruit at least one extra squadron member, do some training on the regimen board, and complete many regular squadron missions.

First, you need to recruit a fourth squadron member. To do this, you must complete entries on your Challenge Log (pressOh Captain, My Captain Trophy • Final Fantasy XIV • PSNProfiles.com (9), then go to Logs -> Challenge Log) until you get a message saying someone has enlisted in your squadron. This is random, but it should not take long before you have someone enlisted. Once you get the message, go back to the barracks, check the Enlistment Papers on the desk, and recruit the NPC. You may need to recruit a few NPCs until you have your preferred combination of classes. It is generally recommended, though certainly not required, to have a traditional party of one Tank, one Healer, and two DPS.

Once you have a full squadron, you must first send your squadron out on the training mission 'City Patrol' (which will take one hour in real-time) by talking to the Squadron Sergeant. Then, you will gain access to the Regimen Board, which you should use to train them to the maximum allowed stats. Three times daily, you can do a one hour training session which will raise your Squadron Attributes. You want to aim to have a balance of Physical, Mental and Tactical.

Squadron Mission Method
After a few days, your squadron attributes will be maxed out for your level range and you will be ready to send your squadron out on missions through the Squadron Sergeant. This is where the bulk of the grind is. Once every 18 hours, you can send your squadron out on a mission and when they return, they will be awarded experience points and level up if successful. To speed up the process, you should remain aware of the time and send them out once a day, every day. It will take several weeks for them to reach higher levels. As you level up, you will want to occasionally check the Regimen Board to make sure your stats are always maxed out and balanced. Always keep in mind that these missions cost GC seals to send your squadron out; until you have completed this trophy, save your GC seals for squadron missions! At level 40, you will reach a special flagged mission called 'Crystal Recovery.' This mission has higher stat requirements than all the other missions leading up to it; thus, you may need to use the Regimen Board to adjust your attributes and perhaps level up beyond 40 with your squadron members in order to successfully complete it. You will be notified if your party is unable to successfully complete the mission if the Squadron Sergeant says, "I'm going to be blunt. This squadron is not ready for this mission."

After successfully completing 'Crystal Recovery,' talk to the Squadron Sergeant again and you will be promoted to Rank 10 (First Lieutenant). Continue the same process until you reach level 50. At or before level 50, you will need to do five unique Command Missions with your squadron. Command Missions are missions where you and three of your NPC squadron members go through dungeons. You will need to replace one of the squadron members and go through the dungeons normally, so you will have to play as the missing role that the party requires. Once you have a squadron over level 50 and have completed five different Command Missions, you will now see the mission 'Sapper Strike' available. Raise your stats up to the required levels, successfully complete this mission, talk to the Squadron Sergeant again, and you will be promoted to Rank 11 (Captain) and obtain your well deserved trophy!

Command Mission Method
If you would like to take a more hands-on approach and forego the passive leveling process of Squadron Missions, you can do Command Missions instead. Command Missions become available when your squadron reaches level 20. This method is much faster and can potentially save you weeks of Squadron Missions. However, it is generally more involved and requires quite a few dungeons. With this method, the only time you truly have to do Squadron Missions past level 20 is when you need to do a flagged mission to rank up.

If you find yourself having trouble completing a mission, there is a handy stat calculator here that can help you figure out what you need to do to get your squadron in shape to clear it.
