Pineapple Juice: Pineapple juice was only available in large cans in the past but now you can find it in large cans, small cans and even plastic bottles. Grab the size and amount that works for you.

Tips for Success

  • Slowly pouring the grenadine down the inside of the glass allows the grenadine to sink to the bottom and not mix, creating the beautiful separation of color, which makes this drink look even more classic.
  • You can make a pitcher of the pineapple juice and vodkas ahead of time, if you know you will be making multiple drinks. Simply stir the pitcher before you pour the drinks and remember to add the cherry and grenadine to each of the glasses!
  • Don’t add ice to the individual glasses or to a pitcher. The melted ice will water down the drink and make the drink a lot less delicious.

Can I add amaretto to this recipe?

Adding amaretto would be a delicious option and add another layer of flavor! If you love the caramelized taste of the pineapple and sugar when making an actual pineapple upside down cake, you will most likely love the addition of amaretto to this pineapple upside down cake martini! Start by adding 1/4 cup of amaretto to this recipe and adjust as needed.

Can I use a coconut rum instead?

Coconut rum brings a different flavor to this drink so while yes, you could substitute one or both of the vodkas for the rum, just know that the drink will not taste like a Pineapple Upside Down Cake Martini. Is coconut rum all you have on hand? Then you can totally use it in this recipe and still make a killer drink!
