This plan was built and is one of our featured Building Stories. BLOG: Building A Country House - Case StudyThis rustic-elegant gable-roofed 3 bedroom 3.5 bath ranch house is all about easy indoor-outdoor living on one level and is inspired by the early modern houses of California architects like William Wurster and Joseph Esherick. A key feature is the generous lanai or summer living room with window walls opening fully to the garden. At the front of the house the great room includes an open kitchen with a two-tiered cooking and buffet island, a dining area in its own window bay, and a dramatic cantilevered hearth for extra seating and display. Additional features include a floating counter and glass-enclosed shower with skylight in the master bath, a sitting area in the master bedroom with access to the garden, walk-in showers in the other two bathrooms, and a laundry and powder room near the living room. Construction is simple and straightforward: the concrete foundation slab is the floor itself; the siding -- which is board and batten over plywood -- is the structural wall panel system. Mirror Reversed Sets

A mirror-reversed set is a printed copy of your house, resulting in the same image you would see if you held the drawing up to a mirror. Everything, including the text, is backward in relation to the original design. These kinds of drawing are typically used to reorient an original plan more advantageously on a site, either because the homeowner prefers it that way or because of limitations of the site itself. Note: Mirror reverse sets are only available with a 5 copy or 8 copy set. With a Reproducible, PDF, or CAD set, you can print mirrored copies locally. In addition: 5 Copy set selected, should only allow 4 mirrored sets to be selected. 8 Copy set selected, should only allow 7 mirrored sets to be selected.
Unless you buy an “unlimited” plan set or a multi-use license you may only build one home from a set of plans. Please call to verify if you intend to build more than once. Plan licenses are non-transferable and cannot be resold.
