Here is a list of medicinal properties ginger, lemon, & honey has been known to have throughout history.
Function
Lemon juice can help you flush fat from your body in a variety of ways, says nutritionist Ann Louise Gittleman, author of “The Fat Flush Foods.” Lemons serve as a mild diuretic that can help eliminate toxins and also have thermogenic, or metabolism-boosting properties. The polyphenols in lemon also promote acyl-CoA oxidase function. Acyl-CoA oxidase is an enzyme that helps to oxidate fat, according to Yoshiko f*ckuchi, lead author for a study published in “The Journal of Clinical Biochemistry and Nutrition”.
Lemon juice is a source of vitamin C, an antioxidant vital to a strong immune system. When added to a tea, lemon juice can provide the immune system with a much-needed boost. The vitamin C in lemon juice can also neutralize the activity of free radicals in the body, reducing the inflammation and swelling caused by free radicals in the body. By stemming the damage done by free radicals, vitamin C may decrease the risk of heart disease, stroke and cancer.
Benefits
Ginger can soothe your gastrointestinal tract and may help combat nausea, which is a common side effect of cleansing and fasting diets. Ginger also may help protect your blood vessels and heart from damage due to atherosclerosis. Modern science has discovered that ginger has other therapeutic properties as an antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory. Ginger can promote a healthy sweating that aids in the detoxification of the body, which is often helpful when suffering from a cold or flu. Ginger is also helpful for settling upset stomachs as well as the dizziness, vomiting and cold sweating, which can accompany gastrointestinal distress. Following diets like this one on a regular basis raises your risk for atherosclerosis.
Honey has a soothing effect on sore throats, making it an effective and natural cough suppressant. Honey may also boost the body’s immune system by aiding in the production of white blood cells. This improves the body’s ability to fight infection and decreases the risk of fevers. The natural sweetness of honey also balances the tartness of the lemon and the ginger’s spice, giving honey, lemon and ginger tea its soothing flavor.
Effects
You are likely to lose weight while on this program because you severely limit calories. You consume 650 to 1,300 calories per day during the program. You also will be slimmer because you eliminate excess waste from your colon and lose water weight. However, this type of weight loss is far from sustainable, according to the experts at the Diet Spotlight website. This yo-yo type dieting also can slow your metabolism, which makes it harder to lose weight in the long term, according to CNN. Part of the weight you lose may be due to muscle loss as opposed to fat loss. Your heart muscle may be affected as along with your other muscles — a factor that is detrimental to your heart health, reports CNN. *Note: Remember, everything in moderation! Don’t go crazy using this only for major weight loss, eat plenty of planet base material foods & stay away from fast foods, fried & processed foods.
