Star Wars: Skeleton Crew (Dec. 2, Disney+)

Creature Commandos (Dec. 5, Max)
James Gunn's 2021 filmThe Suicide Squadand the 2022 series Peacemaker saw Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) use superheroes for less-than-desirable tasks, but due to governmental and general regard for life, she's no longer able to use humans on her secret missions. Who does that leave? The Creature Commandos, a motley crew of monsters and non-human entities with super abilities that includes Circe, G.I. Robot, Doctor Phosphorus, and Weasel (yes!). The Sticky (Dec. 6, Prime Video)
Take this as proof that good things are still possible:Margo Martindaleis starring in a dark comedy about a Canadian maple syrup heist. InThe Sticky, which is inspired by a true story but seemingly not sticking too closely to it (asthe trailerputs it, "This is absolutely not the true story"), Martindale plays Ruth Landry, a syrup farmer who turns to crime when her livelihood is threatened. She teams up with a Bostonian mobster (Chris Diamantopoulos) and a French-Canadian security guard (Guillaume Cyr) to pull off a multi-million-dollar theft of Quebec's syrup surplus. Dream Productions (Dec. 11, Disney+)
Timing can be everything, which is probably why Disney+ bumped upDream Productions, a television series set between the timelines of theInside Outfilms, from a spring 2025 premiere to December 2024, afterInside Out 2became the highest-grossing animated film of all time. The four-episode series follows the creation of dreams inside Riley's head by daydream directors Paula Persimmon (Paula Pell) and Xeni (Richard Ayoade), who are looking to break into the big business of nighttime dreams with a blockbuster. Virgin River Season 6 (Dec. 19, Netflix)
Get your comfiest sweaters ready. Just when it seemed like we weren't going to get any new episodes ofVirgin Riverthis year, Netflix surprised us with the news that the cozy drama isreturning for Season 6just in time for the holidays. On screen, spring is in the air, and showrunner Patrick Sean Smithhas teasedthat Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson) will be in wedding planning mode. And to go along with those wedding bells, can we interest you in some bell bottoms? (Sorry.) Expect '70s-set flashbacks focused on Mel's parents, who could get their own prequel spin-off. Squid Game Season 2 (Dec. 26, Netflix)
Though Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) came out victorious in Squid Game Season 1, he's putting that damned green tracksuit back on. And it's for one mission and one mission only: to put an end to the games. After more than three years, Hwang Dong-hyuk's global phenomenon of a show is returning with new players (a necessity, since the previous batch died) played by a new cast that includes Park Sung-hoon, Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Jo Yu-ri, and Choi Seung-hyun. But there are also some returning faces. Lockerbie: A Search for Truth (Jan. 2, Peacock)
In 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over the Scottish town of Lockerbie, killing 259 passengers and crew, as well as 11 more people on the ground. This drama (obviously) follows the efforts of Dr. Jim Swire (played byColin Firth), whose daughter was killed in the crash, as he battles uphill in his search for the truth behind what happened and for justice for those who suffered. Mayfair Witches Season 2 (Jan. 5, AMC)
AMC continues to be in the Anne Rice business as Mayfair Witches (which exists in the same universe as Interview with the Vampire) returns for its second season. The season picks up in the aftermath of Rowan (Alexandra Daddario) giving birth to the demon Lasher (Jack Huston). American Primeval (Jan. 9, Netflix)
Betty GilpinandTaylor Kitschstar (the show is off to a good start) in this gritty Western limited series fromPeter Berg. Gilpin plays a mother trying to protect her son on the frontier, opposite Kitsch as the traumatized local who acts as her guide. They're surrounded by a much broader cast of characters — including Indigenous nations and Mormon soldiers — all either dependent upon or pitted against each other and the land, fighting for survival. The Traitors Season 3 (Jan. 9, Peacock)
Did you feel a shift in the air? It's because there are once again some traitors in our midst. The hit reality series will soon be back for its third season, with the great Alan Cumming (and his many elaborate outfits) returning as host, and a whole new cast of famous faces. The eclectic group of potential traitors and faithfuls includes Tom "Worm With a Mustache" Sandoval, Zac Efron's brother Dylan, Britney Spears' ex-husband Sam Asghari, Dorinda "She's Startin'" Medley, Bob the Drag Queen, and more. Goosebumps: The Vanishing (Jan. 10, Disney+/Hulu)
Though it didn't sit as well with sticklerGoosebumpssuperfans, Season 1 of the latest take on R.L. Stine's horror-for-kids franchise was a pleasant surprise to everyone else. Developed byRob Letterman(Detective Pikachu) andNicholas Stoller(Neighbors), Disney+'s adaptation was fun family entertainment, thanks in large part toJustin Long's gonzo performanceas a nerdy teacher who gets possessed by the ghost of a sadistic teenager. XO, Kitty Season 2 (Jan. 16, Netflix)
Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart) did not expect her first term abroad to end with her love life being turned upside down. Not only did she break up with boyfriend Dae (Minyeong Choi) and catch feelings for It Girl Yuri (Gia Kim), but her former nemesis Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee) confessed his own feelings to her in the final moments of XO, Kitty Season 1. Now it's time for a new semester at the Korean Independent School of Seoul (aptly abbreviated as KISS), and Kitty can only hope for less drama. If you can even believe it,Severance is finally coming back to us. (Remember that Season 1 premiered in February 2022.) The last time we checked in on the severed floor, the innies had broken free, waking up in the outside world to try to get to the bottom of what's really going on at Lumon Industries. Aside from the enigmatic teaser Apple released in October, there's not much to know about Season 2 yet, but we do know that an exciting roster of new cast members, includingAlia Shawkat,Bob Balaban, Gwendoline Christie,John Noble, andMerritt Wever, are joining the mix. The first thing to know about Invincible Season 3 is that there will be no midseason break, a fact that even Prime Video is proud to announce in the show's new trailer. We could go on about how the nearly four-month hiatus absolutely killed the momentum for the superhero drama's second season, but let's exercise some forward thinking instead. The new season will likely be Invincible's darkest yet, as Mark (Steven Yeun) faces his biggest fear: becoming like his father, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons). But there are layers to Omni-Man that Mark does not know, especially after the mega-powerful Viltrumite admitted to regretting his actions on Earth — and missing his wife, Debbie (Sandra Oh) — in Season 2's last minutes.
