"When you get the chance to face Sinner in the second round, it's a dream come true. It's a chance to test my skills and see where I stand. The past few weeks have been incredible," Bergs shared with ATPTour.com.
But here's where it gets controversial... Bergs' late breakthrough, after years of grinding through the ATP Challenger Tour, winning eight titles since 2021, has given him a unique perspective. He believes the slow progression has made him more resilient and hungry for success.
"I feel like I have a lot of energy and a fresh perspective. The expectations are lower, and that's a good thing. I'm okay with failing as long as I keep improving. I want to take my time and make steady progress," he explained.
And this is the part most people miss... Bergs' openness and authenticity have won him a dedicated fan base. In a world of polished athletes, he shares his highs and near-misses, providing a raw and genuine experience for his followers.
"I want to show people that it's okay to have those moments where you think, 'Oh, I should have done better there.' It's part of the learning process," Bergs said.

"I'm all about learning and growing. The ATP offers so many opportunities to develop as a person, and I'm taking full advantage of them," he added.

"I love showing my emotions. I can be calm and loving off the court, but on the court, I'm an entertainer. I enjoy the big shots and the crowd's energy. It's all about the mood," Bergs concluded.
