Being a stay-at-home mom isn’t easy. Here is my big secret to creating an effective daily Sahm schedule that will make your days smoother, more organized, and ultimately more enjoyable!

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (1)

Hey there momma! Are you a stay-at-home mom struggling with your daily schedule?

Don’t worry, you’re definitely not alone in this. Research actually shows that breaking your day into mini routines can be super beneficial for both moms and kids.

That’s pretty cool, right?

Studies have found that having structured routines can boost productivity, reduce stress, and even strengthen the bond between moms and their little ones. And you know what?

I’ve personally experienced the positive impact of these mini routines, so I can totally vouch for their effectiveness!

Let me share my story with you.

How I Discovered the Secret to a Great SAHM Daily Schedule

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (2)

My stay-at-home mom story starts way back when my oldest was born. I had decided to stay home.

I was young and could easily do it.I wasn’t working at the time – I was in college. With just the three of us, we were able to live off of my husband’s income.

So, I enrolled in distance learning courses and stayed at home.I just couldn’t leave my baby!

We spent days playing, baking, and just goofing around. It was exactly like I pictured it.

Almost.

I loved that little boy with all of my heart and soul. But the days got long.I mean, really, how many times can you push a car up and down a track?🥴

Sometimes I just craved some adult conversation – or a stimulating thought.

It wasn’t hard, staying home with him. I could manage the house, school, and him quite easily.

My stay-at-home mom schedule was rock solid.

The drudgery of the same old, same old, though, was harder on my head than any other part of staying home.

I craved more.

And so I opened up an in-home daycare.

And for a while, that fed my craving for something more.Running a daycare allowed some interaction with other moms and took some of the pressure off of me as my son’s sole playmate.

He was able to play with other children and I was able to breathe a bit.

But, as time went on, my daycare expenses greatly overshadowed the income. And my classes were becoming more involved – distance learning was no longer going to cut it.

And so, after my second son was born, I enrolled them both in daycare and returned to school full-time.

After graduation, I entered the working mom world. My oldest was four and my second oldest was one.

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (3)

I didn’t stay home again until the twins were born, 16 years later.

I’m sure you can relate, momma. The costs of daycare were unbearable!

To put three children, all two years old and under, in daycare, was going to cost me almost my entire salary. It just made no sense to stay at work.

But when the time neared to leave work for good, I was scared!!I had not forgotten how I craved more than just pushing cars the last time I stayed home.

Long, boring days awaited me, and I wasn’t sure if I could handle them!

But I was horribly wrong.

I didn’t have just one sweet little guy; I had a two-year-old andinfant twins.

Our days weresupercrazy and chaotic!!

They weren’t long at all! They flew by in a hurry, with me reacting from one bad or demanding situation to the next.

I was insurvival mode, and it sucked.

What happened to those long lazy days, when I got so bored pushing a car around a track?I wanted them back! Desperately!

If I didn’t figure out how to get a hold on my daily schedule, momma, I was going to go insane!

I couldn’t pee alone.I couldn’t showeruntil someone else came home.Supper was never on time and the house was a disaster! All I did, all day long, was feed children, change diapers, and tend to crying babies.

When the twins got older, they could crawl and walk. And they got into everything, creating one disaster after another. The two-year-old was three and had learned how to fight.

And they all demanded my full, complete and utter attention. One child wasclinging to my legsat all times, one child was always on my hip, and the third was doing something naughty – to grab my attention, no doubt.

I couldn’t finish a thought, much less a sentence.

All the chaos had me frustrated and fighting back tears all day long.

But one night, when I was complaining to my husband about it all, he said something that was just like the heavens opening up from above:

“Well, you used to run a daycare. Set yourself up like a daycare.” 🤷🏻‍♀️

Like it was the most obvious solution in the whole.wide.world.

Hallelujah! 🤣😂

So that is exactly what I did.And life got so much better!!

I’m kind of an over-achiever, so instead of just setting myself up like a daycare, momma, I also modeled a preschool classroom. See, I used to work in one, as a para, so I knew exactly what their daily routine looked like.

Modeling my stay at home mom schedule after a preschool allowed me to put myself in a more ‘professional’ role, if you will. It gave me a challenge, something to work towards.

I felt like I had more purpose to the day, you know? Not that there’s no purpose in wiping butts 🤣🤣 but you know what I mean, momma.

It was more fulfilling.

So, I started chunking my day down, using natural transition points, just like a preschool does. And I created mini routines out of each section of that day.

I set up rituals around meals, bedtimes, and bath time.

And – and this is the best part – I planned little ‘mini lessons’ and crafts in some of the down time!

I used movement and music, too, just like we did in the preschool, especially during the long, cold, winter days.

And before I knew it, I had those magical, fun days at home with my babies that I had always wanted!

Instead of reacting to one bad situation or to the next, I was planning the day and preventing the situations from happening in the first place.

I no longer bounced around the house like a crazy ping-pong ball!I guided my kids throughout the day, from one stimulating activity to the next.

I added structure and routine to my stay-at-home mom daily schedule.

And made it look exactly like a daycare’s.

✔︎ the chaos was gone

✔︎ the days slowed down

✔︎ and I finally had time to enjoy my little guys

They really were quite adorable, when they weren’t acting like demanding little monster dolls. 🤣😂

But even better than all that, momma?

I was finally a good mom again.

I wasn’t operating from place of impatience and frustration. I didn’t scream, yell, and constantly fight back tears anymore.

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (4)

I could laugh, and run and play with my kids. We built tents in the house, set up “restaurants”, and yes, we even played cars. 😂😂

We started our days off snuggling and ended them playing outside before bed, in the setting sun.

Life was absolutely amazing. I finally had what I had always wanted – to be home with my babies, creating lasting memories and building strong bonds. 💕

And I’m still here – nine years later! 🤣😂

The kids are all in school now, but I still stay home, freelance writing and blogging. Doing so allows me to be there for them, whenever they need me.

When school is closed, or they are sick. And when they need to make it to doctor or dental appointments, I don’t have to worry about taking time off or clearing it with the boss.

And I can make all of their extra-curricular activities and sporting events.

Life is absolutely amazing, momma. 🥰

How to Create a Daily Routine for a Stay at Home Mom

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (5)

So, momma, are you ready to jump in and create your own perfect stay-at-home mom schedule? Ready to add some structure to your day, wave goodbye to the chaos, and make some precious memories with your little ones?

It’s so easy to do! All you have to do is create a daily routine that you generally follow.

Daycares – and preschools, for that matter – are very routine in what they do during the day.

Kids flourish in the security of knowing what comes nextif their days are the same, day in and day out.Transitioning from one activity to the next goes better as well.

It doesn’t really matter how your day is set up – what time you have story time, what time you have free play time, what time you do a craft, or whatever activities you establish in your day – as long as you do them in the same order every day.

That’s the beauty of it!

Sodraw up a plan for what your ideal day at home would look like, and give it a whirl!

Do the same thing, day after day, for a couple of weeks. See how it works for you and tweek it, if need be.

Ideally, momma, you will spend some time figuring out what your own values are, as a stay-at-home mom. Because these values will drive everything you do as a sahm.

And they’ll also determine what activities you use to fill in your ‘downtime’ with.

But, after you decide on your family values, then the next easiest thing to do is just to startchunking down your day.

Here’s how:

1. Create a Morning Routine

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (6)

Start with the morning. What do you want your mornings to look like?

Will you get up before the kids?Wake up snuggling in bed together?

What will happen right away in the day? When will breakfast be?What activities follow breakfast?

Really spend some time thinking about what an ideal day would look like for you.

For me, I get up before my kiddos so that I can get some work done and have a couple of (HOT!) cups of coffee.

When it’s time to get them up, I wake them up and we snuggle on the rocking chair.

Snuggling on that chair is how we start off every single day.Everything that follows also follows suit; it is always very routine. My boys know what comes next at all times.

2. Create Set Meal Times

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (7)

Break up the morning with breakfast.Create a routine before breakfast and a routine for after breakfast.

And create a routine around breakfast.

We eat in shifts during the week at my house, because everyone wakes up at different times. Some of the boys eat at school and some eat at home.So breakfast is informal and involves cereal, a Pop Tart, toast or an Egg McMuffin.

The weekend is more structured, however, as my husband and I cook in the kitchen together. We prepare a big breakfast and the whole family eats together.

Do the same with lunch and with supper.

Use lunch to break up the day and supper to break up the evening.

Plan a routine for before lunch and for after lunch, and a routine for before supper and for after supper.

Meals are a natural way to divide up your day.

Meals should also be a routine in and of themselves.

Our lunch routine is very informal, since it’s just me and the twins at home.We eat something quick, easy and simple. The boys and I quietly visit while we eat lunch. The TV is never on, for any meal.

Our supper routine is far more involved.I cook a home-cooked meal almost every night.Oftentimes, my husband will cook with me.Creating the meal, eating the meal, and cleaning up after the meal can take up the majority of our evening.

But we do it because eating healthy is important to us and because spending time together as a family is even more important.

We have a dining room table that seats ten.We all gather around it for supper every night. TV and electronics are not allowed.

3. Create Routine Snack Times

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (8)

Break up your afternoon with a set snack time.At our house, it’s 3:00.No snacks before, no snacks after. You may choose to serve a mid-morning snack as well.

Your snack time routine can be as formal or informal as you’d like.

A daycare, will, of course, have a very formal snack-time routine.

At my house, we do not.I offer them a couple of different options, they choose what they’d like, and, depending on what they are eating, they choose where to eat it.

They make take popcorn to their bedroom and watch a movie or they may have yogurt at the table. Sometimes cartoons are on, or they play on their Kindle Fires while they snack.

4. Create a Regular Nap and Bedtime Routine

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (9)

I’m sure I don’t need to tell you how important bedtime and afternoon naps are!Creating a routine around these times will make the whole process go so much more smoothly.

I actually liked to keep my nap time and bedtime routines fairly similar. That way the baby’s body gets “trained” for sleep.

For us, nap time came after I had lunch cleaned up.We started off with stories and snuggles and then had a little ritual for how they got tucked into bed. We’d also play a lullaby while they slept.

As they got older, we eliminated naps and just had rest time. They’d lay in their beds with a book to read for an hour. We still snuggled and read stories before the nap, and they still listened to music while they rested.

Your nap time routine can look any way you want it to. Just be consistent about what happens and when it happens.

The same goes for your bedtime routine.Keep it the same every night.Do the same activities to prepare for bed and put the kids down for bed, in the same way, every night. If you read a story, give three kisses on the nose, and sing a song, then do that every night.

Creating a routine simply means doing the same thing, in the same order, every night.

Don’t make it harder than it has to be momma!

5. Create an Afternoon Routine

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (10)

Your afternoon routine may involve playtime, learning time, or structured activities. It can vary from day to day, meaning maybe you have a science experiment every Monday, craft time every Tuesday, and a field trip on Wednesdays.Or it can be unstructured daily free time.

Whatever you choose to do in the afternoon is up to you.Even if your afternoon activity is different every day, keeping what happens before the afternoon begins and what happens after the afternoon has endedthe same every daywill create a routine.

For example, your afternoon may start with waking up from rest time.It may have a scheduled mid-afternoon snack, and it may end right before supper.

What you do in the middle of that time won’t matter, as long as what you do at the beginning of that time and the end of that time remains the same.

This is good because it can give you a little leeway to add variety to your days.

6. Create an Evening Routine

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (11)

Use the same structure to create your evening routine. The evening typically falls after supper time.

This time is a great time to set aside family time.

You could do a variety of activities that are designed to build that bond between parents and child.Just as in the afternoon, the activities can be anything you value, as long as the same order of activities is followed every day.

For example, maybe you eat, clean up, and have a bath, every night. After that, maybe it’s a fun family activity, then a bedtime snack, teeth brushing, stories, and prayers. And off to bed.

Whatever fun family activity you choose is irrelevant. The core routine remains the same every night.

Tips for Creating Your Sahm Daily Schedule

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (12)

All right, now that we’ve covered the importance of a routine and how to create one that suits your family’s needs, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty.

Let’s dive into some practical, easy-to-follow tips that will help you create your own personal stay at home mom schedule.

Remember, it’s all about finding what works best for you and your family, and sometimes, that might take a bit of trial and error.

But no worries!! Just keep plugging away at it.

1. Use a Routine Instead of a Schedule

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (13)

Now, don’t get me wrong, schedules have their place. But when it comes to our daily lives as stay-at-home moms, I’m a big fan of routines instead.

A schedule is all about specific times. It’s rigid, strict, and doesn’t leave a lot of room for those unpredictable moments that just seem to come with the territory when you’re raising kiddos.

But a routine? Well, that’s a whole different ball game.

Routines are about patterns, not times. They give your day a flow.

They’re flexible and adaptable – even on those days when the baby isn’t napping, the laundry pile is mounting, and you’ve lost count of how many times you’ve cleaned up spills.

You see, with a routine, you have a sequence of events that you follow, but without the pressure of sticking to exact times. It’s more like a rhythm that guides your day, rather than a strict timetable.

So, in our crazy, beautiful SAHM life, routines trump schedules. They bring order and predictability without the stress!

They allow us to be present and enjoy the unpredictable, messy, and magical moments of motherhood.

2. Understand Your Core Family Values

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (14)

Hold on, momma! Before diving head-first into creating your routine, let’s take a step back and think about what really matters to you and your family.

Knowing your core family values is like having a compass. It guides your day-to-day choices, helping you prioritize your time and energy.

See, it’s easy to get sucked into the Instagram-perfect notion of what a “good” mom should be doing. She’s baking cookies, crafting, running a home business, all while keeping her home spotless. 🤣😂

But let’s be real here – that’s not sustainable or even desirable for everyone. (I’m a good mom, but I’m sitting here in my jammies, teeth not brushed, laundry waiting to be switched over, blogging away…at noon! 😆)

Here’s the thing – there’s no one-size-fits-all in motherhood. What matters is that you’re doing what’s important for YOU and YOUR family.

Maybe that’s cooking wholesome meals, spending quality time together, instilling a love for learning, or simply ensuring your kiddos feel loved and secure.

So, figure out what your family values are. Write them down.

Make them the heart of your routine. That’s the real secret to creating a meaningful, fulfilling daily rhythm that’s totally tailored to your unique family life.

And remember – you’re doing an amazing job, momma! It’s your journey, your pace. Own it.

3. Use Natural Transition Points

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (15)

Natural transition points in the day, like meals and bedtimes, are golden opportunities to structure your daily routine. These fixed points serve as anchors, providing a sense of predictability and stability.

For instance, breakfast time might signal the start of the day, with activities revolving around learning and creativity until lunch. Post-lunch might be a period for rest or independent play time, leading up to a family activity before dinner.

As evening falls, a quieter, winding-down routine could lead up to bedtime.

Remember, it’s not about packing in a multitude of activities but about creating a smooth flow to the day, interlaced with periods of activity and rest. Embrace these natural transition points as your daily rhythm’s backbone, and you’ll find it easier to build a routine that keeps everyone’s sanity intact! 😊

4. Embrace Rituals and Create Mini Routines

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (16)

Rituals are more than just repeated actions, they’re like special traditions that carry emotional significance. And when you make them part of your stay at home mom schedule, it gives children a sense of security, belonging, and identity.

A ritual can be as simple as singing a special song during bath time or sharing what you’re grateful for at the dinner table.

These meaningful experiences, done over and over again, create a comforting rhythm in a child’s life.

It makes them feel loved, valued, and like they’re part of something bigger.

Mini routines, on the other hand, are sequences of actions performed at specific times of the day. They provide a structure that children can anticipate, thereby creating a sense of order and reducing anxiety.

A morning routine might include getting dressed, brushing teeth, and having breakfast. Afternoon routines could involve quiet time, outdoor play, or a creative pursuit. And evening routines often encompass activities like tidying up toys, having a bath, and reading bedtime stories.

While rituals and mini routines both bring regularity to daily life, they serve different purposes.

Rituals tap into the emotional, connecting deeply with a child’s sense of self and belonging.

Mini routines, meanwhile, cater to the practical, helping to manage daily tasks efficiently while providing a predictable structure that children can rely on.

Balancing both in your stay at home mom schedule can lead to a harmonious daily rhythm.

5. Use Filler Activities

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (17)

Filler activities are those fun, engaging tasks that we can slot into those spare pockets of time in our day. You know, those moments after you’ve tidied up lunch but before nap time begins, or that lull before dinner is ready.

These aren’t just ways to keep kiddos entertained (though they certainly do that!). They’re also golden opportunities for learning and creativity.

Think of filler activities as the sprinkles on the sundae of your day: small, but they really make things sparkle!

They can be anything from educational games, reading a book, to arts and crafts projects.

For example, you could set up a little craft station where they can make their own play-doh sculptures. Or how about a mini science experiment?

Even something as simple as a coloring book can give them a chance to practice their fine motor skills.

The key is to keep it low-pressure and fun. Remember, these are activities for those in-between moments in your stay at home mom schedule, so keep it light, keep it breezy, and enjoy the beautiful chaos that is life with kids!

6. Consider A Pre-Morning Routine

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (18)

Ah, the early morning silence. Whether you’re a night owl or an early bird, we can all agree there’s something special about early mornings, that quiet time before the rest of the house wakes.

This is where the pre-morning routine comes in, a perfect chance for a momma to have a slice of ‘me-time’.

Grab a cup of coffee and soak up the peaceful silence, or sneak in a quick workout, or maybe some bible study?

Use this time to do something that makes your soul sing. Starting your day with self-care not only fuels your spirit but also gears you up for the day’s tasks.

If you don’t currently have a pre-morning routine, I highly recommend it!

7. End the Day with an After-Bedtime Evening Routine

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (19)

When the kids are all tucked in and the house descends into a hush, now’s the time for mom and dad to steal some quiet moments for themselves.

This after-bedtime evening routine is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect and relax.

Maybe it’s cuddling up for a movie or perhaps a late-night dessert date in the kitchen.

Whatever it is, savor these moments. They’re not just good for your relationship, but they’re also essential for your well being.

In the whirlwind of parenting, it’s easy to lose sight of yourself and each other. These routines act as little reminders for self-care and to cherish the journey you are on together.

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (21)

I know you may have a few questions rolling around. That’s totally cool, we’ve all been there!

Below, I’ve rounded up some commonly asked questions (and my honest-to-goodness answers) about being a stay-at-home mom and managing the hustle and bustle of stay at home mom life.

Dive in, and hopefully, you’ll find the answers you’ve been hunting for!

How do I create a daily routine for a stay-at-home mom?

Creating a daily routine as a stay-at-home mom can seem daunting, but it’s all about finding a rhythm that works for you and your little ones.

Start by prioritizing your tasks and activities based on necessity and time-sensitivity. Break your day into blocks – morning, afternoon, and evening – and assign activities accordingly.

Don’t forget to include breaks for yourself and fun, relaxing activities for your kids.

Remember, flexibility is key. Some days may not go as planned and that’s totally okay.

It’s about creating a structure that brings order, but also leaves room for life’s little surprises!

What do stay-at-home moms do all day?

The activities of a stay-at-home mom can vary greatly based on factors like the age and number of children, but generally, their day is filled with a myriad of tasks.

This could include preparing meals, assisting with homework and other educational activities, carrying out household chores, planning and executing recreational activities, managing appointments, and facilitating bedtime routines.

In between these tasks, they also find time to nurture their personal interests and hobbies. It’s a full-time job that requires multitasking, creativity, resilience, and a whole lot of love.

How do stay-at-home moms stay organized?

Staying organized as a stay-at-home mom is all about finding systems that work and sticking to them.

It might include using planners or apps for scheduling, setting reminders for important tasks, decluttering regularly, and having a specific place for everything in the house.

It’s also about teaching your kids to follow these systems, like putting toys away after playtime.

Most importantly, it’s cutting yourself some slack and understand that some days might be messier than others, and that’s perfectly fine!

What is a good stay-at-home mom routine?

A good stay-at-home mom routine involves establishing a balance between structure and flexibility. It typically starts with waking up before the children wake up to have some alone time, planning the meals, and preparing for the day.

The day may be divided into blocks for educational activities, chores, meals, rest, and playtime. It’s important to include breaks for relaxation and to deal with unexpected events.

Evening may wind down with a calming bedtime routine. Remember, the best stay-at-home mom schedule is the one that works for you and your family, not the one that looks perfect on paper!

How do stay-at-home moms make a schedule?

Creating a stay-at-home mom schedule involves identifying the key tasks that need to be accomplished each day and allocating specific time slots for each. It involves prioritizing tasks based on their importance and urgency, and considering the natural rhythms of the family’s day.

Consider meals, naps, school runs, work commitments, and any extracurricular activities. Incorporate downtime and flexibility for those events.

Using digital tools like apps or traditional methods like a physical planner can be helpful. Remember, it’s about creating a routine that brings order and predictability, but also accommodates the dynamic nature of family life.

How many hours a day does a SAHM work?

The number of hours a stay-at-home mom (SAHM) works can vary greatly depending on the family’s specific needs, but it’s safe to say it’s often a full-time job. A SAHM’s job includes, but is not limited to, childcare, housework, meal preparation, and running errands.

If we consider typical working hours for these tasks, it could easily amount to 10-12 hours a day, and that’s without factoring in night-time duties like tending to a sick child or a baby. It’s important to remember that a SAHM’s work is multifaceted and often extends beyond traditional “working hours.”

What are realistic expectations for a SAHM?

Realistic expectations for a stay-at-home mom (SAHM) should respect the fact that she is human and not a supermachine. A SAHM can run a well-organized home, ensure kids are well-nurtured and cared for, and manage other household responsibilities.

However, it’s crucial to remember that everyone has off days and things won’t always go perfectly.

Some tasks might go unfinished, some days might be more challenging than others, and that’s okay!

Self-care and rest should also be a part of the SAHM’s routine because they play an equally important role in ensuring the family’s well-being.

How many hours should a stay-at-home mom clean?

The time a stay-at-home mom (SAHM) should dedicate to cleaning largely depends on the size of the home, the number of family members, and their lifestyle.

However, as a rough estimate, a couple of hours a day could be allocated for cleaning. This may encompass tasks like tidying up, doing the dishes, laundry, and deeper cleaning projects.

Remember, it’s all about balance and not letting cleaning responsibilities overshadow the joy of family time.

Moreover, involving other family members can teach responsibility and teamwork, while also reducing the load for the SAHM.

Do kids with stay at home moms have better outcomes?

Yes and no. It really depends on a multitude of factors! There’s no one-size-fits-all answer because every family, child, and situation is unique.

Some studies suggest that kids with stay-at-home moms may develop strong emotional bonds and get consistent care.

On the flip side, kids of working moms might gain early independence, social skills and be inspired by their mom’s work ethic.

What’s most important is a loving, supportive environment, whether a mom decides to stay at home or pursue a career.

How do stay at home moms plan their week?

Stay-at-home moms often plan their week by establishing a stay at home mom schedule that balances their personal tasks, children’s activities, and household chores. They might use tools such as planners, calendars, or apps to organize and prioritize tasks.

The stay at home mom schedule should be flexible enough to accommodate unexpected events or changes. It can be helpful to allocate specific days for certain tasks, such as laundry or grocery shopping, to streamline the week and create a predictable rhythm.

Incorporating time for self-care, relaxation, and family activities is also crucial to maintaining a healthy and happy lifestyle.

How do I teach my kids to play independently?

Teaching kids to play independently is a gradual process that builds their confidence and creativity. Start by setting up a safe, kid-friendly space with engaging toys or activities that suit their age and interests.

Encourage your child to explore independently, but stay nearby to offer support if needed. Remember, it’s okay for kids to feel bored sometimes – this is often when creativity kicks in!

Gradually increase the time they spend playing independently, always praising their efforts and creativity. Above all, be patient and supportive throughout this learning process.

What is a good sahm toddler schedule?

A good SAHM toddler schedule strikes a balance between structured activities and free play. It could start with a consistent wake-up time, followed by breakfast and a morning walk or playtime.

Afterwards, you might schedule a learning activity, like reading or puzzles, then lunch and naptime. Post-nap could be time for an outing or craft, then dinner preparation where the toddler can help, followed by a wind-down routine before bed.

Here’s a quick sample toddler schedule:

  • 7:00 AM: Wake up and morning cuddles
  • 7:30 AM: Breakfast time
  • 8:00 AM: Outdoor play (weather permitting) or indoor free play
  • 10:00 AM: Snack time
  • 10:30 AM: Learning activity (reading, puzzles, coloring)
  • 12:00 PM: Lunchtime
  • 1:00 PM: Naptime
  • 3:00 PM: Wake up from nap
  • 3:30 PM: Snack time
  • 4:00 PM: Planned activity (outing, playdate, crafts)
  • 6:00 PM: Dinner time
  • 7:00 PM: Bath time and begin wind-down routine
  • 8:00 PM: Bedtime

Remember, this is just a guide and every toddler is different. It’s important to adapt and adjust to your child’s needs and moods. You’ve got this!

At the End of the Day…

The Secret to a Great Stay At Home Mom Schedule - Making Mommas (22)

…The secret to a great stay-at-home mom daily schedule is to set yourself up like a daycare!!

Daycares and preschools follow a day-to-day routine. They use natural transition breaks, such as lunchtime and recess, to break up their day.

And then they start and end each chunk of their day in the same way.

So, it doesn’t matter what goes into your daily stay-at-home mom schedule; what matters is that each chunk of your day – the morning, the afternoon, and the evening – all start and end the same way.

It also helps to have rituals around your transition periods, such as meal times, bedtimes, and bath time. 😉
